How billing works
How Insurance Billing Works in Soundry
Soundry is practice software with an insurance billing service built in. Automation does the routine claim work, our billing team helps when a claim needs attention, and your practice keeps control of the chart. Here is exactly who does what.
Who Does What
Automation
- Runs electronic eligibility checks (100 included each month)
- Turns signed visits into claims
- Submits claims through the built-in clearinghouse
- Monitors payer acceptance
- Posts electronic remittances (ERAs) and patient responsibility
- Shows every Soundry fee next to the claim it belongs to
Our billing team
- Answers billing questions inside the app
- Helps correct and resubmit rejected claims
- Follows up with payers by phone when needed on claims covered by Denial Protection
- Guides clearinghouse enrollment and your data migration
- Keeps every conversation attached to the claim
Your practice
- Documents and signs each visit, with diagnosis and procedure codes
- Checks eligibility before visits and collects patient responsibility
- Decides on and files appeals of payer denials
- Files workers’ comp and auto (PIP) claims using the CMS-1500 download
The Life of a Claim
A typical chiropractic visit, from the eligibility check to the posted payment.
Step 1
Before the visit: check eligibility
Run an electronic eligibility check from the patient’s record. You see current benefits and what to collect, and a successful check activates Denial Protection for that patient’s claims for 12 months.
Step 2
During the visit: document and sign
Chart the visit with specialty code lists and AI-assisted SOAP drafts that you review. Signing the visit is what starts the claim, so billing never runs ahead of the chart.
Step 3
After signing: the claim goes out
Soundry builds the claim from the signed visit and submits it electronically through the built-in clearinghouse. Payer acceptance is monitored automatically, so you see rejections in the app instead of finding out weeks later.
Step 4
If a claim is rejected: get help in the app
Our billing team helps you correct and resubmit it, with the conversation attached to the claim. For claims covered by Denial Protection, the team also follows up with the payer by phone when needed, and the rejected claim is not charged the $2 submission fee.
Step 5
When the payer pays: payment is posted
Electronic remittances post automatically, with payment details, line-level adjustments, and patient responsibility shown with the visit, so you know what to collect.
Not Included
- Appeals of payer denials

Simple, Predictable Billing Pricing
Per claim & amount paid
Usage-based fees stay aligned with what you collect—no surprise platform tax on idle months.
Monthly subscription
Platform & billing automation access. Claim fees are additional as you get paid.
Included
- Claim submission
- Automatic ERA posting
- Updated payer status and claim tracking
- 100 electronic eligibility checks per month
- 5 insurance clearinghouse enrollments
- Denial Protection for eligible patient claims
Insurance clearinghouse enrollments
Your subscription includes 5 insurance clearinghouse enrollments to get you set up. Additional enrollments are only $10 each.
Flat-rate pricing exceptions
Unmet deductible: $4 per claim
When an electronic ERA reports patient responsibility only because of an unmet deductible, a flat $4 remittance fee applies instead of the 3% remittance fee.
Missing electronic ERA: $4 per claim after 30 days
If electronic ERA enrollment is incomplete and no approved remittance is available after 30 days, a $4 Missing ERA Fee applies. A later approved ERA reverses that $4 fee and applies the normal remittance fee.
Included protection
Denial Protection
Denial Protection covers claim rejections and correction support, including phone follow-up with the payer when needed, when a patient had a successful electronic eligibility check within the 12 months before the claim was submitted.
Eligible claims are protected from the $2 submission fee when rejected. Resubmissions after adjudication are billed again.
An eligibility response is not a guarantee of coverage or payment; final benefit and claim decisions remain with the payer. Denial Protection does not include appeals of payer denials.

What a Month Costs
60 claims and $4,000 in insurance payments: $100 subscription + $120 in claim fees (60 × $2) + $120 remittance fee (3% of $4,000) = $340. The $4 flat-rate exceptions for unmet deductibles and missing ERAs are listed above.
Billing Questions
Is Soundry a billing service or billing software?
Both, in one subscription. Soundry is practice software with an insurance billing service built in: automation handles eligibility checks, claim submission, payer acceptance monitoring, and payment posting, and our billing team answers billing questions and helps fix rejected claims in the app.
Who submits my claims?
Soundry does. When a visit is signed, Soundry builds the claim and submits it electronically through its built-in clearinghouse, then monitors payer acceptance. You do not need a separate clearinghouse account.
Does Soundry handle denials and appeals?
Our billing team helps you correct and resubmit rejected claims. Denial Protection covers rejections and correction support, including phone follow-up with the payer when needed, when the patient had a successful eligibility check in the 12 months before the claim. Appeals of payer denials are not included.
How much does billing cost with Soundry?
$100 per month plus $2 per claim and 3% of insurance payments, with 100 eligibility checks and 5 clearinghouse enrollments included. For example, 60 claims and $4,000 in insurance payments in a month costs $100 + $120 + $120 = $340. There is no long-term contract.
Can I see what Soundry charges me?
Yes. Every Soundry fee is shown in the app next to the claim, eligibility check, or payment it belongs to, on the same timeline as your billing activity.
What do I still do as the practice?
Document and sign each visit with its diagnosis and procedure codes, check eligibility and collect patient responsibility, decide on and file any appeals of payer denials, and file workers’ comp or auto (PIP) claims with the CMS-1500 download.
